John and his grandmother made a fire on the rocky shore of the island. They couldn't wait for dinner and decided to cook John's fresh lake trout. Nora sat on a rock by the shore, feet dangling in the water, shoes and socks lying beside her. She watched Peter and her grandfather as they took turns fishing. It wasn't long before they were cleaning two more lake trout.
"Nezi," said Etseh, scooping a drink of the clear, cold water with his hands.
"We have lots of fish to eat. Now let's try that lake trout. I'm hungry!"
It was a great spot for a camp. Everyone ate in silence, enjoying the delicious fish and watching loons play near the shore.
