After they all inspected the old fish cache, camp was taken down and the packs were loaded into the canoes.
"This food pack is sure getting lighter!" said John as he helped Etseh load the canoe.
"That's because we're running out of food!" sighed Nora.
By mid-afternoon, Etseh steered the canoe towards a narrow spot between two islands. Nora and John stopped paddling as they came closer to the islands. The water was so clear and blue that it was like looking through glass.
"Wow. Look at all those neat rocks!" exclaimed John as he looked down.
"Hey," said Nora. "I just saw a fish swim by!"
"We need to catch our supper," said Etseh. "This is another place where people have caught fish for years and years. Fish are important to us. We've always needed them to feed our dogs and ourselves. Let's stop here and fish."
